28th Annual ITPA Assembly (2018)
The 28th Annual ITPA Assembly was held in Tampa Florida at the Crowne Plaza Hotel the weekend on April 27-30th. We had 45 pioneers in attendance. After our board meeting on Friday, we had a fun time networking with fellow pioneers at the Meet & Greet buffet dinner.
Saturday’s opening ceremony started with the Color Guard from the Freedom High School. Speaker Steve McLeary, Executive Director, from the Special Operations Warrior Foundation explained how and why the foundation was founded and the ITPA Charitable Foundation made a donation of $2500 to this worthy cause This group focuses on providing scholarships for children of fallen Special Ops team members. They also provide grants to families of wounded special operators to help reduce the financial burden when special operations personnel are hospiilized from severe combat wounds. We also donated $2500 to the Alzheimer's Association Research which is an ongoing project we have supported for many years. Pioneers engaged in team building exercises which were a lot of fun. A group of us went to the Florida Aquarium on Saturday afternoon. The Silent Auction was started on Saturday and closed on Sunday. The baskets and items auctioned off were great. We had 22 items donated to the silent auction.
The Hall of Fame luncheon was held on Sunday to induct Dean Charles Swanson of Cornelia, Ga. His family attended the luncheon to help celebrate his induction.Sunday was full with the awards ceremony, team building, more 50/50 (that happened all weekend) and a lot of howling. We had a great time!
The 2018-2019 mascot is Howie the Wolf. He disappeared Saturday night after having a night on the town. If anyone sees him, please tell him to “call home”.
